About the CHADA Foundation
A visit that became a lasting commitment.
Founded after a first-hand encounter with the Chinotimba Association for the Destitute and Aged, in Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe.
How it began
The CHADA Foundation was created after Robert Ooley and Rodney Baker visited the Chinotimba Association for the Destitute and Aged (CHADA) in Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe. What they encountered was a small community caring for elderly people with very limited resources, but also with remarkable commitment, resilience, and humanity.
The experience made a lasting impression. It was also clear that relatively modest amounts of assistance could make a meaningful difference in the everyday lives of CHADA's residents.
The CHADA Foundation was established in the United States as a nonprofit organization to turn that experience into sustained support. Working in partnership with CHADA and those caring for its residents in Zimbabwe, the Foundation seeks to address practical needs that directly affect daily life.
Our mission
The CHADA Foundation is dedicated to improving the dignity, comfort, safety, and quality of life of elderly and vulnerable residents of CHADA in Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe.
Through direct support, practical assistance, and partnership with the local community, the Foundation helps provide the resources needed to create a more secure, caring, and enriching home for those CHADA serves.
Our approach
People helping people.
Listen first
Our purpose is not to impose solutions from afar, but to listen to those caring for CHADA's residents and respond to identified needs.
Work in partnership
We work directly with CHADA and its caregivers in Zimbabwe, rather than designing programs at a distance.
Focus on daily life
We provide resources that can have a direct and tangible impact on comfort, independence, companionship, and dignity.
Our goal
Greater dignity, security, comfort, and connection.
Our goal is simple: to help ensure that the elderly men and women who call CHADA home can live with greater dignity, security, comfort, and connection.
